Pop art changed the art world in the 1950’s by using everyday things like comic books, promotional advertising, magazines plus objects around the home and calling it art.
This movement not only changed the art world, it also changed everything else that we see on a daily basis like advertising, marketing, movies, television shows. In today’s word the pop art movement is still alive and well. Its impact is also being felt this Halloween as more costumes are being designed with a pop art approach so they can be enjoyable and make an artistic statement at the same time.
Become The Character
One of the keys to success in creating a Halloween costume with a pop art approach is using make up to capture the essence of the character instead of just being content with a
store bought costume.
Some of the iconic pop artists that art lovers are turning to for Halloween inspiration are Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, Jasper Johns and of course Andy Warhol.
Play A Part From The Era
Since the pop art movement lasted from the 1950’s into the early 1960’s, many people are choosing Halloween costumes that pay homage to the those years by choosing costumes like Hippy costumes, the Beattles costumes, I Love Lucy costumes and so much more.
Costume Prices
Pop art costume prices range from $50 to $100 online but if you’re creating your costume based on the character from a pop art painting, comic or novel form the era then you can expect to pay a lot less. For best results with your pop art costume it’s important to plan out your look early and purchase all of the pieces that you will need for your costume in advance just so you have everything that you need to finish your look.
Since Halloween is right around the corner it’s best to start planning early because the best adult Halloween costumes are sure to be sold out as we get closer to the big day.
